Exploring Utah. The Golden Spike National Park.

Our adventure of the week was to find the Spiral Jetty which is located
somewhere on the Great Salt Lake.   I never know just how far away something
is from our house.  The drive to the Spiral Jetty from our house is a long, long drive.

Before you get to the turn off to the Spiral Jetty you pass
the Golden Spike National Park.

My husband sees the trains and so our trip is diverted.

It was a beautiful day and the trains were running and so we had a nice
adventure.

If you plan to go to this park try to make sure the trains are running.
I've talked to a lot of people who have gone and not seen the trains run.
So I feel like it was extra special because we got to see the trains in action.

There isn't much else to see if you don't like trains.

It was such a beautiful day.  Perfect temperature.

There is a gift shop and museum with movies.
The movies are what kept us from getting to the Spiral Jetty.
By the time we finished watching the movies we had to head home.

Well I hope you enjoy the train photos.  I enjoyed the day adventure with my husband
while we took time to explore a new place in Utah.

Explore Utah a drive on the Alpine Loop.

On one of our dates this summer we drove the Alpine loop.

It is a beautiful drive. I'm glad that my
husband does the driving as it is a narrow winding road.

If you like to go hiking there are lots of different trails along the way.

We will have to drive it again this fall and see all the trees
with the fall colors.

We then went to the deer river reservoir.

Next year we will have to visit here during the summer so
my husband can go swimming.
My husband loves to find the lakes around Utah he
misses the Ocean.  There is something healing about sitting by a big body of water.

We also have to go on this train ride at some point.

On our drive home we stopped to see the Bridal Veil Falls.
There are so many interesting places to see in Utah.

There are actually people sitting up near the falls.
I wouldn't climb up there I'm not brave enough.
I am so glad that my husband and I take time off together to explore Utah.
We have lived here for eight years and are now finally seeing all the beauty that
surrounds us.  I wonder where our next adventure will take us?

Garden Walk Week 24. I am not ready for fall!

It's officially fall and I am not ready for it.
It seems like just yesterday was the tulip festival.
Now they are putting up the lights for the winter
light show and soon they will have pumpkins and
scarecrows all over the gardens.

My son started his first semester of college and he is
studying industrial design.  He had to go and take photos
with this weird tool.  It was fun to walk the gardens with him.

There are still lots of beautiful flowers to see at the gardens.
I have to say that my garden is not looking that great.
I just did not pay too much attention to it this year.
I think it was all the running children everywhere and working full time that
kept me from it.

Really when I can walk around such beautiful gardens why should I
work to hard on my own?

I like the color of this plant.

I am beginning to make plans for the fall and winter.
I want to cook a different type of soup every week.
I also want to find some interesting indoor places in Utah to
visit.

My husband and I have been having some fun adventures, I want to continue it
thought the fall and winter.

I like this flower.  I like the curly edges.

I think next year I will photograph this spot in the secret garden every week.
I love how it looks like you are in the ruins of an old castle.  At least that is what I feel about
this spot.

I've taken a lot of photos of these berries. I wonder
if they are poisonous as I never see any birds eating them.

Well it was a short quick walk this week. I'm sad that
soon the gardens will be closing. I'm not looking forward to winter.

Garden Walker. My Favorite photo of the week September 2019

My favorite photo of the week.  I love the Humming bird and the colors of the flowers around it. This hobby of mine, taking photos brings me joy.  I've been listening to some podcasts about happiness and joy.  I have to say I think for the most part I'm on the right path.
I will share more later.
What do you think do you like this photo?

Books I read this summer.

I actually read a few books this summer.  So here are some of them.
I really liked "Recipes For a Perfect Marriage."
It's not what you think, It doesn't make marriage out to be
easy and it has a bit of sadness to it.
You see how a young person viewed their grandparents marriage as perfect,
and kept looking for that, and how they end up realizing that marriage isn't perfect.
I think it really shows different types of love and ways a marriage can work and not work.
You should go check it out at the library.

This was a cute little romance novel.  Yes I'm a bit of a romance novel addict.
I liked this one because it takes place in Maine so I got to drift off into a place I had been to
when I was young.  The main female character liked to do photography which I love.
It was also just a light easy book to read.  A nice summer beach book.

This book was really fun to read.  You have to check out
my blog posts that I do about my new cat as I tell about it in those posts.

This was a romance, family history mystery with some
psychic abilities and family drama and healing all bundled together.
It was a very interesting book and kind of hard to describe but I
think you should check it out if you like family drama books or like books
that deal with psychic abilities.
Have you read any good books lately?
