Summer is almost here and we are back to doing weekly dates. The Great Salt lake, Ensign peak and Red Butte gardens.

It's almost summer and that feeling of I need adventure in my life
is there for me.  I try really hard to make my schedule so I have time with my husband.
The last few weeks of transitioning into my new job has been hard.

This is our new adventure car "Preza."
We are so happy to have her and be able to go out on dates with her.

Every other week for some time now I will
have to drive out to West valley city after work on Sunday.
I always go and pick up my husband and when we
are done delivering stuff to the main office of work we head to The Great Salt Lake
for a little walk and to catch the sunset.

It was a nice day for a walk.

I love the way the light is looking like a rainbow in the
clouds behind my husband in this photo.

I like the patterns in the sand.

I've realized that I need to wear sunglasses when doing
photos.  I always end up with squinty eyes.

We have been having fun using the selfie stick I got for Christmas.
I try to send photos of us and our adventures to my Mother in law out on the east coast.
With the pandemic we have not been able to go out and visit family.

Even with having the vaccine I'm not sure if
my brother and sister in law will let us come out and visit this year.
We don't want to get my mother in law sick.
It has been very hard to not be able to visit family.

I got a book with easy hikes in the Salt Lake valley.
This is our first hike in the book "Ensign Peak"
It was a little steep, but I did it!

There the sunglasses help with my photos.
The views on this hike are amazing.

I forgot the selfie stick at home so the one with the long arms took the photos.

I got a new bird to add to my collection.

It's a Lazuli Bunting.
Such a pretty bird.  I'm glad it sat still long enough for me to get a good photo.

The view from the top of the hike.

The sign says "Hells Canyon"
I need to look up what this hike is.

We had good weather, I think there were some days
where it was a muddy mess to walk up.  Glad we didn't have that issue.

Now off to the gardens.

I'm starting to put together a book with flower
Photography.  This will be my first flower in the book
"Allium"  It's going to be a little bit of an alphabet book with
the meanings of  each flower.

I think these flowers look like they came out of a Dr. Seuss book.

The Iris are in bloom.  Life lately has been a bit hectic, so
I was so glad for this day to just hike and walk with my husband.

Looking at flowers, playing photographer it all
allows me to relax and unwind.

I have been working on some big projects at work,
which thankfully are almost finished, just in time
for my whole department to be moved.

Along with the great move of my department,
I will be training two new people to work in my department.
So these moment of being away from it all are very much needed.

I know eventually the changes will be done, and
I will be able to just feel settled.
I am feeling a lot more confident in the work that I am doing.

Slowly I will make the changes that will make
my little department run smoothly.
Or at least I hope they will make it run smoothly.

I hope at some point to be able to take
a long weekend off, or even just have
two days off together.

Until then I will just be happy to have a day with
my husband each week.

Here is a fun little selection of photos,
From bud to bloom.
The peony.

I liked that there was a plant that had all the
stages of the flower.

A pretty view with the peony plants.

We like to go to the top of the garden and just sit
and listen to the birds and feel the cool breeze.

I've never seen a yellow columbine before.

The views are so amazing.
They are building a trail with lots of
bridges at this garden, I can't wait for it to be finished.

This bird stopped by to visit with me.
It really did hop right up next to me.

I wonder if people have been feeding it.

I like to look at lilacs but their smell can be
overwhelming.

There was a humming bird feeding on the cactus flower but
I was too slow and did not get a photo.
Well I hope you enjoyed the photos.
I hope for more fun walks next week.
G.G.
What are your plans for the summer?
