Playing refrigerator jenga

I’m thankful that we have a refrigerator full of food.
But I have to say we are bad at organizing
Our refrigerator.

Many times we open the door and think of
The game Jenga.
Can I successfully get the food container
I want to take out without having other items fall out too?

The other problem is finding the item I’m looking for.
Where is the cats food.
But I always feel blessed that I have food to eat.

Taken with my little camera.

Our date this week had lots of frogs and turtles
Along with the birds.
The American bullfrog.

My husband liked this. You have a bunch of different birds
And the turtle hanging out together.

Another frog photo.

A new bird for my life list.
Neotropic cormorant.
Have a good weekend.

My son is going to be tiny apartment living

My son is leaving the nest to move into a tiny apartment.

It’s a hotel room that has been renovated to be a studio apartment.

He is excited to be on his own.  I went shopping to get him some of the basic needs.  And realized there is so much that you need when you live on your own.

I got him some dishes, frying pans, cooking utensils and mixing bowls.  Hopefully he will be able to make a meal his first week in his new place.

He will be sleeping on a cot until he figures out what kind of bed he wants.  Don’t think 🤔 that we didn’t offer him to take his bed. We did, but he has other plans.

He literally is starting with almost nothing. I will be blogging about this adventure.

Taken with my little camera.

Had a nice day driving around the Timpanogos mountains
Yesterday.

We stopped at cascade springs and got to do
Some birdwatching.

Chickadees are hard to photograph.
They don’t stay still for a long time.

Hummingbirds are also hard for me to photograph.
So I was pleased with the photos I got.

There was a group of Turkey vultures flying around.
Hope you enjoy these photos.

A moment from my day.. prank phone calls still happen.

I remember when I was young sitting with friends calling people and doing prank phone calls. That’s what happens when young kids are left alone with a phone.

When a child does a prank phone call I get it. But then you get the strange man who has decided to call and say things that you really don’t want to hear.

The man who asks if you carry extra large condoms.

The man looking for extra area in the front of underwear.

The man who wants to tell you a story that he thinks will make you laugh.  He had a bee 🐝 on his pants while mowing the lawn, so he took all his clothes off and ran around his yard with no clothes on.

I wonder if they got a man on the phone would they still ask these questions or do they wait for women?

I once thought I was getting a prank call, the person kept asking if we had spilt milk 🥛.  So I finally hung up on them. Then a few days later I learned about the new product spylt milk, a caffeinated milk beverage.

Hope you enjoyed reading about this moment in my life.

Don’t let idiots ruin your day.

I found this cute drawing on Pinterest.  I’m going to print it out and post it where I work.

We had an idiot come in at the end of my shift the other day. They wanted a manager because their order wasn’t brought to them and they had been waiting 30 minutes. I asked what order they were waiting for and they would not tell me.

Then they walked away and said they would get their order themselves. I called the online order manager over. But by then this person had already left.

Then they yelled at me saying “see it took me two minutes to get my order”.  If you can’t communicate with people then don’t yell at them.

I needed this little saying that day.

Ah life in customer service it’s never boring.

A moment from my day, taking the cat to the vet.

Here is my sweet fur baby. Today is her 6 month vet visit.
It’s dental cleaning day. She was up at 4:30 am wanting
Her breakfast. But no food could be given.

I get very stressed taking her to the vet.
Our last cat went to the vet and then we got the bad news that she had cancer.
So I get stressed that something will be wrong with my sweet girl.
It’s weird not having her in the house.
I have to work too, so that adds stress.
I will be happy when we are both back home.

A moment in my day. Nature therapy.

My husband and I have found a spot by the river where it’s cool and you can hear the water flowing by.
It’s 79 degrees outside. Such a beautiful day.
He is relaxing on our trip blanket. I’m sitting watching the river and looking for birds.
I have needed this stress free time.
We call it nature therapy.

A moment from my day, organizing my photos.

I am trying to spend at least 10 minutes every day organizing my photos.  Because I want to make a life list photo book of all the birds I have photographed, I have started with organizing my bird photos. There are about 140 bird files now.  I might have 4 more SD cards to pull photos from.

Some birds I have tons of photos of and others I only have one or two.  This has been a very fun project to work on. After bird photography is organized I will move to flowers.

What projects are you working on?

A moment from my day.

Do you take time to rest and relax?

One thing I do is color a picture.  I got a daily planner and each week I have a new picture to color.  I have gotten behind so yesterday I spent time working on a few of the pages.

Here is one of them.

Pre diabetic the foods I no longer eat.

When you go on the internet you see
Tons of advertisements on how to magically lose weight.
I have lost 9 pounds and there was no magic drink,
No magic pill.
There was the decision to stop eating food that do not
Provide nutrients to my body.
No more little candy bars mindlessly eaten at work.

No more chips with my lunch. No more chips while watching television.

No more cake.

No more cookies or brownies or fudge.
Leaving these foods behind helped me lose 8 pounds.
I also exercise 5 days a week and I have added strength training.

The month of August I started my ban on French fries.
Oh how I love ❤️ you French fries.
I will miss you French fries 🍟.
Yesterday my daughter and I got takeout and I told her we
Have to choose a place that doesn’t have fries 🍟.
I want to lose 3 more pounds.
Which means I need to be mindful of what I eat.

A moment from my day. The weird fish at the aquarium.

Yesterday we went to the aquarium because it was just too hot to be outside.

We spent time sitting in the shark tunnel. This fish kept swimming by us. It looks like it has a human face. I called it the Pinocchio Fish because of its long nose.

It just made me smile.

A moment in my day; customer service return conundrum.

Moments make up our minutes, hours, days and weeks.

I thought I would try to share a moment from my day with you and see how many I can share in the next month and maybe year.

Here is my moment from Monday.

I work in customer service for a retail store. Part of my job is to return items for customers.  On Monday a customer came in with the above moldy bread to return.  This customer let me know she didn’t like the quality of the bread.  She bought it possibly 4 weeks ago, but due to not shopping at the store often she kept the bread and receipt to return when she came back shopping.

She didn’t seem to think that her moldy bread science experiment might not be right to return.  It took a huge effort on my part not to laugh at her.  The bread only cost $6.00, if it was me I would have just thrown it away.

I did the return, then took a photo of the bread to show my store manager.

I am amazed at what people do sometimes. Would you have returned the bread?

Lady with a camera.

We took an early morning walk yesterday.
We saw an American Mink.

Lots of sunflowers, which makes me jealous because
They can grow in the wild
But die in my garden.

I got two new birds for my life list,
A sage thrasher.

And a western wood pewee.
Always glad to see a new bird.

Taken with my little camera. My New England adventure.

I went home to visit my parents and made sure
I had my camera ready.

They have lots of birds in their backyard.
They are not allowed to have bird feeders
Due to bears.

This eastern blue bird had a little house and some babies.

The American gold finch did not want
To stay still for a good photo.

I’ve been wanting to get a good crow photo.
They have a family living in the back woods.

On the drive to Maine I had to beg Mom to pull the car over so I could photograph the cormorant and loons.

I heard this weird noise and it was a family of river otters.

It’s nice to have a hobby that you can pretty much do anywhere.
Hope you enjoy the photos.

It’s not the best photo but it’s a birding win for me.

This summer I took a trip to Vermont to visit my family.
Across the street is a field with a small pond. The pond is surrounded by cattails and a beautiful weeping willow tree.
I love this spot, the field holds childhood memories.
While walking around the pond this
American Bittern flew out of the cattails.
I had just read a murder mystery with this bird as part of the story plot.
I was happy to see an elusive bird.
The photo is not great but it does prove that I saw the bird.
I am slowly organizing my bird photos and I realize some
Birds I see almost every time I go out.
Other birds I will most likely only get to see once.
