Kimberly’s little year.

There is a movie called “The Big Year”
About people who go all over the United States to see
as many different birds in a year as possible.
I have no ability to do this,
But I do like to go birdwatching.
So I thought I would keep track of my “little year”

I have also been trying to write what birds I see as we go
to our favorite bird watching spots so next year we
can plan our trips better.

Here is a female long tailed grackle.
Photo taken at Utah lake April 21st.

Here is a Finch from my backyard.

A brewers black bird. Farmington bay bird refuge April 2nd.

White faced Ibis, bear river bird sanctuary April 2nd.

Great Blue Heron.

Little adventure bird learns about spring flowers.

Little adventure bird has been learning about flowers.
He likes these purple periwinkle flowers.

He like other birds loves the dandelions in our backyard.
The wild birds like to eat them. He may try a taste too.

At the local flower garden he checked out some tulips.

This plant is cool looking. It’s a eastern pasqueflower.

Do you see the lady bug hiding in this flower?

A beautiful poppy.

Here is a nice resting spot in a patch of moss phlox.

Maybe next time we visit the tulips will be blooming.

Daffodils.

We liked the way this tulip was framed by the daffodils.

Hope you enjoyed learning about flowers with little adventure bird.

Little Adventure Birds birding and garden adventure

Little adventure bird got out of the house this week and went birdwatching and flower garden walking.
It was sunny and warm. Please remember to wear sunscreen.
We forgot and got sunburned.
Note how Little Adventure Bird is trying to look like
the wild birds.
He found a nice sign to perch on.

Just like this red winged black bird.

Now Little Adventure Bird is trying to blend into the bushes.

Just like this great blue heron.
When bird watching you need to go walking very quietly and look for the hidden birds.

Here are some other birds that little bird saw.
A Double-crested Cormorant, an American Avocet.

A painted turtle. We have never seen turtles at the bird sanctuary before.

Great blue Heron with babies.

White-faced Ibis.

Brewer’s Blackbird.

Long-billed Curlew.

Sandhill cranes.
Wanting to take advantage of a beautiful day,
Little adventure bird left behind his bird friends and visited the local gardens.

He found the hidden gnome.

He climbed to the top of the garden to enjoy an amazing view of Salt Lake City.

He did some exploring of the flowers and trees.

He did some perching in a beautiful tree. He chatted with
Some bees 🐝.

He was brave and sat on the high ledge.

He enjoyed the beauty of the garden.
Spring is definitely on its way.
Hope you enjoyed seeing
all that Little adventure bird did on his
day out in Utah.

A new camera equals photo adventures

I decided a few weeks ago to buy a new camera. I wanted a

better zoom lens and I wanted to be able to send my photos from my camera to my phone.

When my camera arrived of course it was miserable outside.
The last two weeks though I have been able to get out and do
Some bird photography.

I’m also keeping track of what birds we are seeing
So we know the best time to go birding next year.

Yesterday we saw a lot of birds.
What I like about this photo is you can see
all the little flies around the bird. It is sitting there opening
it’s mouth and getting a meal.
I often wonder how many little flies make up a meal for the birds.

I’m trying to get better at catching birds flying.
Here is a pelican coming in for a landing.

Here is a Sandhill crane. I have photos of them flying too.

When we went to Antelope Island we saw a coyote.

The Heron have some babies.

This bird almost blends with the grass.

The American coot is protecting its territory.

Have you ever heard a meadow lark sing? It’s beautiful.
Well I am off on another photo adventure today.
