Slow birding, aka the birds in my backyard.

European starling.
I can’t always go out bird watching,
So on days when I am stuck at home I enjoy watching

The birds at my bird feeder.

This gives me some practice with my camera

And time with nature.

I don’t have any really cool birds.
But they are still fun to watch.
I just learned that watching birds at home is called slow birding.

Are you there God?

Today while doing my 3 mile walk the fitness instructor brought up this quote “ Attention is the Beginning of Devotion.” By Mary Oliver.

I am trying to look at where my attention has been and also

in the next few months pay more attention to God. To looking for God in my life.

I think this quote was God speaking to me. God speaks to us

through other, as much as he may whisper to us in our mind,

He will also use the words of others too.

I’m seeing you God, I know you speak to me.

I’m going to focus on You more.

Thank you for speaking to me.

Thank you for the beautiful world

Thank you for quiet moments.

Are you there God?

In an attempt to strengthen my spiritual connection
I’m looking for ways to reconnect with God.
My inspiration so far has been to focus on the
beauty I see in the world, and to also look for things to be grateful for.

When I look at flowers and animals I think
there must be a Devine Creator. I cannot believe
that all the beauty in the world is just a strange cosmic accident.
The pandemic and the craziness of life has caused me to feel
A bit spiritually lost.
So every day I am going to try to look for reasons to
Continue to believe in God.
I am also going to focus on things I am grateful for
and share them with you.

I’m thankful for the beauty of flowers.
I’m thankful for my family.
I’m thankful for my little home.
Thank you God for all the beauty around me.

My Journey check in. May 8, 2024

At the beginning of the year I chose the word “journey” to be
my word for the year.
Despite getting covid in January I feel I have been
doing really well with exercising.
I have been doing well with life work balance.
I have been doing pretty poorly with my spiritual walk.

I am trying to write out my goals daily.
This is my month goal sheet.
One thing I will try to do is write daily about my
journey and how I am doing with my goals.
Do you set monthly goals?
So far this month I have done well with my exercise goals.
I’m am trying to exercise every day, and do some type of exercise after dinner.
I am going to try to read a conference talk every day.
My spiritual focus this month is going to be focused on
Expressing gratitude for the things in my life.

Little adventure bird visits the farm.

Little Adventure bird visited some farms.
He wanted to learn about farm animals and their babies.

He also liked looking at the farm equipment.

They use some big machines on farms.

Old farm trucks are cool.

The baby goats were very happy to visit with us.
They like to chew on everything.
A baby goat is called a kid.

Here is a baby sheep. A baby sheep is called a lamb.

I think he might be trying yoga with baby goat.
We could call this the kid pose.

Little bird felt right at home with the baby chickens.

They are so cute and fluffy.
He tried to convince us to buy some.
Sorry little bird they would make a mess of our house.

Here is a mother cow with its calf.

A mother horse with her foal.
There were baby animals everywhere.

We think this Alpaca got a bad haircut.

The chickens were busy scratching for food.

The baby goats were cute, it’s hard to think they grow up to be so big.

Here is a mother killdeer.

Here is the killdeer eggs.  Maybe they don’t have to stay on the eggs until they hatch.
Hope you enjoyed the farm animal photos.
It was fun to visit a farm.

Kimberly’s little year.

There is a movie called “The Big Year”
About people who go all over the United States to see
as many different birds in a year as possible.
I have no ability to do this,
But I do like to go birdwatching.
So I thought I would keep track of my “little year”

I have also been trying to write what birds I see as we go
to our favorite bird watching spots so next year we
can plan our trips better.

Here is a female long tailed grackle.
Photo taken at Utah lake April 21st.

Here is a Finch from my backyard.

A brewers black bird. Farmington bay bird refuge April 2nd.

White faced Ibis, bear river bird sanctuary April 2nd.

Little adventure bird learns about spring flowers.

Little adventure bird has been learning about flowers.
He likes these purple periwinkle flowers.

He like other birds loves the dandelions in our backyard.
The wild birds like to eat them. He may try a taste too.

At the local flower garden he checked out some tulips.

This plant is cool looking. It’s a eastern pasqueflower.

Do you see the lady bug hiding in this flower?

A beautiful poppy.

Here is a nice resting spot in a patch of moss phlox.

Maybe next time we visit the tulips will be blooming.

Daffodils.

We liked the way this tulip was framed by the daffodils.

Hope you enjoyed learning about flowers with little adventure bird.
