I got this cute little frog figurine 

From Barnes and noble. 

I thought it would be possible,

But sadly it only sits in one position.

I take the little frog

With me and take photos of it.

It came with a little book and there is 

Also a coloring book.

It has self care quotes.

It’s ok to not always feel positive.

I think I needed to read that.  Lately I have 

Days where I feel crabby. And that’s ok.

Average Kimberly, Junk Yard Jim and the big pain in the butt... How Junk Yard Jim Progressing.

 

 

I wish I could look in my crystal ball 🔮 

And know when Junkyard Jim would be better.

Last week we went back to the pain doctor and 

Jim got a sonogram shot in his S1 joint.

He really did not want this shot, but it happened.

While at the doctors office on the 8th floor 

The fire alarm went off.  We almost had 

To walk down 8 flights of stairs.  Jim

Can’t walk down stairs, so I was very glad when 

They realized it was a test and not a real fire issue.

Jim has been getting better each day since the shot. 

He is able to walk 14 minutes on the treadmill.

The week before he could do 5 minutes.

Hopefully he will be even better soon.

I’m trying hard to be centered in this 

Crazy World and with caring for my hurt husband.

I try to read uplifting books and focus on 

Positive things.

I also listen to meditation music at bed time.

Limiting the time I spend on computers looking at social media is one of my goals.  It just drains you.

I always think of God when I am outside in nature.

The beauty of the world amazes me.  I also think he could come back and fix all the issues we have created here.

That is what I sometimes wish for. The return of God and the world being restored to its glory.

Average Kimberly is learning to Go with the Flow in the Rapids of life

 

My word of the year is Flow. Lately I have been

Wondering if I am in the rapids of life or 

Stuck on a giant rock, possibly with rapids around me.

My Husband has been hurt since April.

He is slowly getting better.  But I am the

One doing pretty much all work around the house,

Plus working full time.

He has been barely able to walk, and in

Almost constant pain.

Back pain is not fun my friends.

I just keep going.

The whole world seems crazy lately.

Average Kimberly, Junkyard Jim and the giant pain in the Butt

 Here is the update on Junkyard Jim.  The Steroid shots to the back did not fix him.  So if you are someone who was fixed be thankful.  He is now doing physical therapy and taking two pain medication.  In two weeks he could be getting a different steroid injection.  He is hoping this will not happen.

He is doing a little better.  But recovery still seems far away.

Average Kimberly, Junkyard Jim and the giant pain in the butt continues

 When you live with someone who is in pain everyday 

The days seem to blur together.  Junkyard Jim is walking around a little better, he was actually walking without the cane yesterday.  The problem is he can only walk for a little bit before the giant pain in the buttocks comes to get him.

I no longer look for a giant miracle, I look for small miracles.

He is walking better, he is up and around a bit more. It’s a slow process.  

Keep him in your prayers please.

Average Kimberly would like a cold and rainy summer

 Living in a state that is in a drought, makes you desire rain ☔️.  Today we are having a rainy morning. I would love to have a summer that is cool and rainy.  It would be nice to have a rainy day every week this summer. 

Perhaps that is too much to ask for from the universe.

But I think it would be lovely.

So I guess today I just have to be thankful for this rain.

Average Kimberly is Taking her life back!

 I’m reading this new book, it’s about giving your soul a break from the constant stress of this high tech world.

It’s supposed to give you ways to reconnect with God and feel less stressed. 

I will share what I learn with you.

Average Kimberly and Junkyard Jim and the horrible pain in the butt!

 Sorry no pictures with this post.  For some reason I can’t download photos from my phone to my blog anymore.

The husband of Average Kimberly is Junkyard Jim. Someday my son will finish his drawing of him.  Junkyard Jim hurt his back early in April.  He has been on short term disability since.  The MRI showed a ruptured disc pressing into his spinal nerve.  This equals a big pain in his butt that makes it so he cannot walk.  

He has been on pain medication, he has had 2 steroid shots to his back.  By the end of this week the steroid shot is supposed to magically make him better so he can go back to work.

A small delusional part of me wants so badly to believe that this will happen.  Then another part of me maybe the saner part looks at my husband and realizes this is not the reality of the situation.  

So I ask myself what am I learning in this process?

I’m not as patient as I thought I was.

I’m glad I made him sign up for long and short term disability.

There are good moments in hard situations.

I can still find things to be grateful for despite this trial.

I still love God despite my struggles.

While the Church leaders failed me this week, I still believe 

That God is watching over me.

I may write about the Church failing later.

Well pray for junkyard Jim that we get a miracle that 

Heals his giant pain in his butt.

Average Kimberly likes pretend she is a photographer

I'm trying hard to not use AI for my art.

I have had my son draw a bunch of 

"Average Kimberly" art.  

I'm hoping Canva is more of a

Photo editing tool and not AI.

I like to use the templates to 

arrange my photography. 

I feel like photo editing is different than

having AI make things for you.

I'm working on photo layouts that

show the stages of flowers when they bloom.

When I am out walking in gardens

people often ask me to photograph them

and their families or friends.

I guess because I am carrying a camera around

they think I might be good at taking photos.

I always stop and take their photos. 

My Husband has been disabled

for the last month with a disc issue. 

So our birding has been put to the side,

and I have been going to gardens.

So lately my adventures have been 

Birds and blooms.

Because I don’t want giant data centers 

Being built I am trying to not use AI.

I will no longer have it create cartoon characters.

I have never used ChatGPT. 

If my writing isn’t perfect that’s because it’s 

Just me. No help from the AI to make me look smarter.

I’m just Average Kimberly and I am happy with that.

Average Kimberly takes a Staycation

I was supposed to go on a birding trip 

To Arizona but my husband hurt his back.

So my vacation became a Staycation.

I got back into my exercise routine.

Did some baking.

Got my hair cut.

Went walking at a local garden.

And gave myself permission to relax and 

Not do any housework.

I also read some books. 

The big bird in the sky is

Possibly a golden eagle.

I think God decided to bless me with birds 

On my garden walk because I’ve never seen 

This many before.

They want to be able to enjoy their days off.

They don’t want computers and robots to run everything.

Average Kimberly and the customer who apologized

 

Average Kimberly has a customer service job.

She likes her job and enjoys helping people.  If service

to others gets you to heaven then a job as a customer service worker

must be one of those jobs that makes you look good when you get to the other side.

Last week a customer called in really mad about not being able to return a 

gift card.  Kimberly remained calm, apologized to the customer

and told them the only thing she could do to help.

The customer was so mad they screamed and shouted and then

hung up.  

Rule number one in guest services "Don't let the one angry customer ruin your day."

The amazing end of this story is the next day the customer called back and

apologized for the way they treated average Kimberly. 

That does not happen often.  It's nice when it does.

If AI takes all the jobs this is what I would like to do.

The algorithm of my phone

keeps telling me that AI is going to take all the jobs.

What will life for people be if this comes true?

Will it even happen in my life time?

There is this one story that says everything

will be really cheap and we will all 

get a life wage.  

So if I was being paid because the 

computers and robots are doing all the work.

What would I do?

I would hope that I got paid enough that

I could go out birding everyday. 

I would just enjoy going out,

taking photos and then making nice

photo books.

I would also do lots of family history.

If the money was enough I would

travel to all the places where my ancestors came from

and I would see where they lived.

The question is would we get bored at some point?

Would we be able to go and learn things?

I think some people would have to work, because

who would be fixing the machines when they break.

Who would be making sure the machines are doing the job correctly.

I'm not sure if I believe that it will really happen.

A mystery book for people who like birding.

  

So my husband has hurt his back, and this

has caused my ability to go out birding to be put on hold.

My big vacation to Arizona has been canceled for now.

So what can I do?

I can pick some books to read.

I'm currently reading A Tiding or Magpies by Steve Burrows.

I like the detective and how he solves murders, and

I like all the birding information.

These books take place somewhere in England.

I like all the different birding facts that are told while the 

detective tries to figure out why someone was killed.

Was it because the person was killing ducks?

Or is there some deeper reason?

I guess if you want to know you will have to read the book.

This is the 4th in a series and you need to read them in order to

understand everything that is talked about in the book.

I have really enjoyed reading this series.

I go between romance novels and murder mystery’s.

It’s also a nice way to escape from the world.

Book review The Retired Assassins guide to country gardening

 

I really liked this book.  It was a fun read and made 

Me think about what would make someone be 

An assassin.  

It had a murder mystery, 

Ghosts, interesting characters and 

A good ending. 

It had a part where the main character eats lemon curd on

Toast, which made me try it. It is good.

If you like cozy murder mystery’s 

You will like this book.
