Day date 2, back to Antelope island.

We missed a week of going out exploring due to
Everyone in our house getting Covid!
I had a fever for 3 days.
During our illness it snowed, and snowed and snowed.

So when we finally felt better this past week,
We went out to Antelope island.

We have never been there in the snow.
It looked so beautiful.

Little bird came and checked out the snow.
She also liked seeing the bison 🦬.

While driving around, we found the herd of bison 🦬
Right next to the road. So we pulled over and watched them.
We even got to see two have a little fight.

We also saw the coyote, and hawks and
Some bald eagles.

Fall and winter are the best times to visit antelope island,
Because you don’t get swarmed by bugs.
Are you enjoying winter?
Do you have a favorite place to explore?

My new year word is “ Journey “

Do you pick a word for the new year?
This year I chose the word “Journey”

I have a lot of goals, but what I have learned is that
To get where I want to go on my journey this year,
I need to focus on the steps to get there.

So many of my posts will have little foot 🦶 prints.
Marking the steps I’m taking.

Some of my goals for the new year are:
Renew my relationship with God.
Eat healthy
Declutter my basement
Stay physically fit
Work on family history
Organize my photography
Enjoy weekly dates with my husband.
Lots of steps will need to be taken this year.

I find these inspiring quotes on Facebook.
It was like a sign that I chose the right word for my year,
When I found this quote.
Tell me your word of the year. Why did you choose it?
What are your new year goals?

The first date of 2024. Antelope island Utah.

We went on our first date of the new year on January 2nd.
At our house it was sunny and bright.
At Antelope island it was moody and misty.
We bought our state park pass.

Being a bit silly I brought a little friend on our adventure.
Do you see my little bird friend?

Here is the little adventure bird. Ready to explore the
Utah terrain. Just don’t go to close to the water little bird,
The mud can be really bad.

Usually you can see for miles. Today it was hard to see
A few feet 👣 in front of us.

We are lost in the mist.

I liked how the mist made it feel so stark and moody.

The sun tried to make an appearance.

Up at the visitor center we were above the clouds,
And got some fun photos.

On the way to the visitor center we saw some bison 🦬
With birds on them. Little bird
Wanted to try sitting on some animals.

Brave little bird flew all the way to the top of the deers head.
She also enjoyed standing on the bison.

We had a nice first day date.
To many fun adventures this year.

Here is a bison with some bird friends.

They are so incredibly big animals. Good thing I have a zoom lens for my camera.

Hope you enjoyed little birds adventure.

Reflecting on my accomplishments and failures in 2023

Do you make goals at the new year?
I do.  So as the new year begins I have been looking back and thinking about what I accomplished and what I failed to accomplish.
This year I began the journey of eating healthy. I did pretty good. I eat really healthy breakfasts, and snack a lot less than at the start of last year.
I continued to exercise. I am now jogging for most of my workouts. I did lots of little walking challenges. I did over 300 exercise workouts with my fitness program.
I trained lots of new people for my work. I got a really nice compliment from my supervisor that my team is great and that they are productive and love me.

My failures, I wanted to color a whole coloring book. I didn’t accomplish that. I did get some pages colored but not a whole book. I didn’t get my downstairs cleaned and organized. I got a lot removed, but there is still more to do.
I didn’t attend church often.  At the end of the year I did better, but I have work to do.
I didn’t get my family history information organized.

Here is a photo of all my little coin rewards for walking.

I did a lot of walking in 2023.
Soon I will share my 2024 goals.
I even have a theme and word for 2024.

The Final Day Date for 2023

We went to a new state park for our last day date of the year.

The water must be low as we were able to walk by one of the
buoys.

We liked being by the water and watching the
Sun sparkle on it. There is something soothing about
Being by the water.

Not sure what this structure is for.

I hope 2024 will be filled with weekly day dates.

No bugs, No birds, our final Bird watching date of 2023

We went for the last bird watching drive of
The year.  It was interesting to see what birds were around.

I was actually hoping to see some Bald eagles.

It was very pretty out and warm.

It felt like we were far from civilization.

I was disappointed in myself as I forgot to put the battery in my camera. I also forgot the binoculars.

Here is a list of the birds we saw.
We came up with the phrase “ no bugs 🐛, no birds”.
We didn’t see very many birds and there were no bugs.
The bathroom porta potties were really cold 🥶 too.

The Bowlby Family Christmas Letter

Dear friends and family,
I hope you had a wonderful Christmas season.
This past year seemed to fly by.
My letter is a little late this year because work has
Been very busy.
Here is a little of what our family did in 2023.

In May Gabrielle graduated from the University of Utah.
She worked very hard in school and graduated with honors.
She now has a nice job working for a nonprofit in Salt Lake City. She will be doing some classes this spring to get some human resource training and certifications. At the end of December she is traveling to Japan. This has been a big dream of hers.
Jacob just finished his last semester at BYU. He also is graduating at the top of his class. He will do his graduation in the spring. He is taking some certification classes to possibly work at hospitals as a medical translator. He is also applying to government translation jobs.
He is the social butterfly of our family. He is always out with friends, I’m sure once he finds a job and pays off some student loans he will fly out of the family home and into a home of his own.

Jim still works on fixing giant machines. On his days off he works on old car projects. He and the kids took a vacation to New Jersey this summer.

I still work at the local grocery store.  I love my job. I enjoy helping the customers and the associates at my store. I get to train my team on all the accounting stuff for the store. I have a great team.

On my days off I play wild life photographers.
I love going out and exploring nature and places in Utah.
Hopefully in 2024 I will find new places to go.
Thank you for sending Christmas cards and wishes.

This is what our cards looked like.
