Garden Walk Week 26. Fall is coming but there are still beautiful flowers to see in the gardens.

Summer left so fast!  Ugh!
It has been cold, and rainy and while I
like to make comfort food and drink hot chocolate.
I think I would still love to have summer back.

I don't feel like I got to do everything I wanted to do
this summer.

I love these little pepper plants.

I love the coloring of this plant.

This is one of my favorite photos of the garden season.
I love the colors, I love the way I captured the humming bird.

Next year I am going to photograph this spot every week.

I think this is a tulip tree flower.

I'm not sure what this strange puffy green spiked thing is but
I like it with the purple flowers.

I love just wandering around the gardens.

The flowers of next year are within the seeds that are
starting to blow in the wind.

Another good Humming Bird photo.

Mums the fall flower.  They moved the wart hog.
I wonder where they put it.

I listen to the Oprah podcast.
Super Soul Sunday.  I love the beginning where she says
"The most important thing you can do is take time for yourself."

Stop running and racing about from one thing to another,
take time to do something just for you.
That is what my garden walks are.
They are my time for myself.

I do something each week that I have a passion for.
Which is photography.  Every week even though
I typically go to the same garden I get a new
photo that I really love.

I see a new flower, or bird.
I wander about and think of the things I want to do in the week,or think
of the things that I have enjoyed doing in the week.

I also just walk and don't think much of anything.  I just soak in the
beauty and nature around me.  I talk to God.
I tell him that I love him and what I am thankful for.

I try also to plan adventures and get aways for my husband and I to do together.

These moments have enriched our lives.  They have created a stronger bond between me and my
husband.

So if you feel like you are growing away from your spouse, plan time together.
Once a week is the best but if you can't do once a week
do once or twice a months.
Don't worry if the first few times is like pulling your spouses teeth.  My husband
at first resisted our day time exploring dates.

Now a year later he says they saved his life.  That
he is more calm, and relaxed and he looks forward to our next adventure.

Time is this precious gift, it can go so fast if we are not thinking
of  how we want to spend it.

Do you have a favorite podcast? Do you have a favorite way to spend your free time?

Do you have a favorite flower photos?
Have a wonderful week.
Remember to take time for yourself.

Garden Walk Week 25. Flowers and Quilts OH MY!

This week not only did I get to see beautiful flowers,
I also got to see beautiful quilts.

The whole time I was walking around the gardens
my only thought was, my mom should be here with me.

My mom makes quilts.
She has made hundreds of quilts.

Most of the quilts she makes she gives away.
I have many of them.  I'm always asking for another one.

My mom taught me how to make quilts, but I never kept making them.
It's a lot of work to make a quilt.
Quilts are another form of art.

I watched women of all ages look at the quilts and
discuss the work that went into them.
Look at the stitching, look at the colors.

How do you chose a favorite.  I have a quilt like this one.
I think it's called a super star quilt.

I like this fall one.  Perhaps there are people that
have different quilts for the different holidays.

I love the coloring of this quilt.
I always wanted to decorate my house with a quilt as part of the
decorating.  Each room would have a quilt that went with the
decorations of the room and color of the room.

My mom made me a flower quilt this year.
I love it.  It has flowers and bugs and birds in the design.

When she makes a special quilt for someone she thinks about
what they like and then finds a pattern that includes that
in the quilt.

I have quilts that she made for my children when they were young.
One was even made with dresses from my childhood.

I love my weekly walks at the garden.  It's the time that I
take to just relax and forget that the rest of the world exists.

These sunflowers are so fluffy looking.

Finally the passion flowers are blooming.
I find this flower to be very interesting.

The green pod is what it looks like before blooming.

I went on the first day of the quilt show so I did not see all
the quilts that were to be displayed.

I like this one.  It made me think of my childhood.
I was a little blonde girl who loved nature.

With these two photos I like how I have the flower in focus and
the background is very blurred.

Well another week has slipped by so fast.  It seems that it was just the tulip festival and
now I am seeing them getting ready for their Christmas light displays.
I guess the saying the older you get the faster the days go is correct.
I just want life to go a little slower.
How about you?

Can You Really Get Paid To Do That? PodCoin... No listening to pod cast for money doesn't work...

So I was one of those people who saw this app called Podcoin that said
it would pay you to listen to podcasts.  I had earned a whole $2.00 Amazon gift card for
all my podcast listening.

Then you know what happened?  Podcoin disappeared.
They shut down.  I'm not really disappointed because I was listening to podcasts that
I wanted to listen to.   Trying out this App I learned that I really like Podcasts.
I like to listen to a variety of podcasts and in future blog posts I will tell you about
some of my favorite ones.
I never expected to earn much from this App. I was sad when it shut down because I had to find
all my podcasts with Apple Podcasts.  I found them all and now I can rate and review them which
I'm sure helps the people who do them.  I wonder how much money does someone make
doing a podcast?
Well here is one way that you can not make a little extra money.
